Ingredients:

  • 500 grams boneless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 pita bread or flatbreads
  • 1 cup chopped lettuce
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped cucumber
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint

Supply:

  • Grill or stovetop griddle
  • Mixing bowl
  • Tongs
  • Serving plates

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken
    Step 1:
In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, ground cumin, paprika, ground coriander, ground cinnamon, cayenne pepper, ground ginger, ground allspice, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade. Add the boneless chicken thighs to the marinade and coat them well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, allowing the flavors to infuse into the chicken.
  2. Cook the chicken shawarma
    Step 2:
Heat a grill or stovetop griddle over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken thighs for about 6-7 minutes per side or until they are fully cooked and have beautiful grill marks. Remove the chicken from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  3. Prepare the shawarma wraps
    Step 3:
Warm the pita bread or flatbreads. On each warmed bread, place a generous amount of the cooked chicken shawarma. Top it with chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, fresh parsley, and fresh mint. Roll up the bread tightly to create the shawarma wraps.
  4. Serve and enjoy
    Step 4:
Serve the delicious Turkish Chicken Shawarma wraps and enjoy this flavorful and satisfying dish!
