Once upon a time, an old farmer lived with his three sons in a village. His son’s worked very hard in the fields. But they constantly quarrel amongst themselves.
The old farmer tried to keep them together but they would always disagree on everything. This really worried the farmer.

One day, the old farmer fell sick. He told his son’s, ‘I am too feeble to work in the fields. SO, you have to work in the fields together.’ Though his son’s promised to work together, he heard them fighting and soon they had come to blows.
Many villagers had gathered to laugh at them.

The old farmer decided to teach his sons a lesson so that they would forget their differences and stay United.
The next day the farmer called his sons. When they stood around his bed, he pointed to 3 bundles of sticks lying in the corner of the room.

‘Pickup 1 bundle of sticks each,’ he said. The son’s rushed to choose their bundle of sticks.
Now separate each stick and break it in two. The one who is fastest in Breaking all the sticks will be rewarded,’ the old farmer said. The sons broke the sticks into pieces in minutes

Before the man could see anything they started to quarrel among themselves as to who had broken them first.
The old farmer sad,’ wait sons, the game is not over. Now go to the other room and get the other bundle of sticks there is one for each of you.

The farmer’s sons now got the other bundle of sticks and stood looking at their father.
‘Now break the sticks as a bundle, not as separate sticks,’ said the old farmer.
The sons tried their best to break their bundles but failed they tried and tried again with all their might, but they could not break the bundle of sticks.

It is not possible to break these bundles of stick. We will have to separate them, Father,’ they said.
The old farmer replied, ‘Dear Sons, you could easily break the single sticks into pieces. But you were not able to break the bundles of sticks.’ The son’s nodded. ‘In the same way, if you stay United, nobody can do any harm to you. If you quarrel among yourself anyone can easily defeat you. If you are together you will remain strong.’
The three sons understand the power of Unity. They decided to set their differences aside and promise to always stay together.
